Terms for tours
The terms for buying and taking a self-guided tour on FreeGuides Tours. Our Privacy notice explains how we handle your information.
Last updated 12 October 2026
Who you are dealing with
FreeGuides Tours (tours.freeguides.com) is run by FreeGuides Pty Ltd, Level 5/24 Campbell St, Haymarket NSW 2000, Australia (“we”, “us”). Contact: hello@freeguides.com. By buying or starting a tour you agree to these terms. If you use other FreeGuides products, the FreeGuides Terms of Use also apply to those.
What you buy
A tour is a self-guided route that runs in your phone’s web browser in our tour player (tour.freeguides.com): a live map from stop to stop, with stories, photos and, on some tours, audio. Buying a tour gives you personal, non-commercial use of that tour. It opens as soon as you pay; there is no booking, set time or guide who meets you.
Keep the link you get after paying: it’s how you open the tour again. If you lose it, email us with the address you paid with.
Price and payment
The price is shown on each tour’s page before you pay. It is set by the country the tour is in: €2 in Europe, US$2 in the US and A$3 in Australia and elsewhere. Tours funded by a council or tourism board are free. It is a one-off payment, not a subscription, and you don’t need an account.
Payment is taken by Stripe on its secure checkout page, by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Your bank may charge a fee if it converts the currency. Promotion codes from our partners can be entered at checkout.
Taking a tour safely
You take a tour on your own, at your own pace and at your own risk. Watch the road, not your phone, follow local rules and signs, stay off private property, and check opening hours, tides, weather and how far you’re walking before you set out. Some routes include stairs, hills or uneven paths. Stops can close or change without notice.
Tour content
Tours are written by local guides, hotels, hostels, councils and tourism boards, and each tour page credits its author where one is named. Authors keep their tours up to date, but we can’t promise every detail is current. If something is wrong, tell us and we’ll fix it. The tours, maps, text, photos and audio belong to their authors or to us; please don’t copy or resell them.
Your consumer rights
Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the law where you live, such as the Australian Consumer Law or the consumer laws of the EU and UK. If a tour doesn’t work or isn’t as described, see our refund policy.
EU and UK buyers: you normally have 14 days to cancel a purchase of digital content. Because a tour opens as soon as you pay, by paying you ask for it straight away and accept that this right ends once the tour opens. Our refund policy still applies.
As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or unforeseeable loss, and our total liability for a tour is limited to what you paid for it.
Everything else
We may update these terms; the version on this page when you buy a tour applies to that purchase. These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, but if you are a consumer elsewhere you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country and can bring a claim there.
